Videojet
Videojet/Willett (VJW) which is headquartered in Chicago USA, develops, produces,
sells and services high performance industrial inkjet and thermal print solutions to a broad variety of enterprises within the global manufacturing and process industry.
The VJW organization has more than 70 subsidiaries in 70 countries around the world.
Annual turnover exceeds €800 mio.
In the beginning of 2003 - VJW decided to build a central system based on the Worldwide
SQL version of MBS-Navision 3.10 (SDB). The system should be operational for up
to approximately 250 simultaneous users worldwide (EMEA) by end of year 2005. The
idea was that the system should be centrally run and maintained and be available
to all VJW sales offices worldwide.
In order to ensure that all local business issues were met by the central solution
before implementing the system, a diagnostic analysis in each country was performed
by Partner Power International (PPI) and the local Partner Power (PP) office responsible
for the application in cooperation with the local VJW management and appointed key-users.
The goal was to ensure that all business critical demands not directly supported
by the central VJW standard solution were identified discussed and described. For
each new country added to the solution a local Diagnostic Analysis (GapFit) was
performed; all business critical gaps were identified and either worked around or the central VJW solution was modified.
The core development activities were performed by the local PP office responsible
for the application together with local reporting, training, setup, data-migration
and go-live support. The overall international project management including license
handling was performed by PPI.
The central solution has now been up and running since mid 2003. The basic structure
is mature and the necessary local functionality is implemented. The data center
has been upgraded and can now handle more than 230 simultaneous MBS users via Citrix
connections.
At present only one additional country is under implementation and the system is
geographically completed.
However several new projects regarding new and enhanced functionality are on-going,
including the implementation of MS CRM module, MBS Service management, MBS remote
clients, JetReports reporting tools etc.
